Exploring downtown Futian on foot

When the weekend arrives without any plans, what do you do? Well, you do what all Shenzheners do — explore the city! No matter where you venture in the city, there’s always something waiting to be discovered.

A recent weekend, I seized my camera and strolled from Shangmeilin to Lianhua Hill Park and then to Children’s Palace. This impromptu journey turned out to be rewarding as I came upon many of Shenzhen’s iconic landmarks, had a healthy walk, and captured beautiful, unforgettable moments with my camera.

My first destination was Shangmeilin, favored by foodies for its plethora of restaurants offering cuisines from various regions of China. After a satisfying meal, I meandered through Lianhua Hill Park, where both a bougainvillea show and a coffee festival were in full swing.

Then, I ventured south to Children’s Palace to explore the outdoor flea market. Nearby lies the Futian outlet of Shenzhen Book City, a multifaceted complex housing bookstores, gift shops, bakeries, cafés, and eateries. It’s definitely worth a visit.
