The Government Services and Data Management Bureau of Pingshan District has recently collaborated with China Mobile and China Telecom to offer free Wi-Fi 7 service in public areas, making it the first district in the city to pilot this cutting-edge technology.

This upgrade, which will enhance network speed, expand hotspot coverage, and bolster network security, aims to improve public internet services and government services.

Wi-Fi 7 promises faster connections in large venues while maintaining reliable low-latency performance. It tackles congestion and interference, delivering tangible benefits in areas with densely packed devices or overlapping neighboring networks.

A resident surnamed Li frequently visits Pingshan District Central Park for dancing. She said that in the park, she can access the "Smart Pingshan" free Wi-Fi anytime and anywhere. "It's very convenient for browsing online videos and making video calls," she noted.

In addition, public Wi-Fi is also available at various popular attractions in Pingshan, such as the Dongjiang Column Memorial Hall and Yanziling Ecological Park, allowing visitors to easily connect after completing a one-time registration process.

Statistics show that since the beginning of 2024, users have accessed Pingshan’s public free Wi-Fi over 5.18 million times, with an average monthly data usage of 301TB. Currently, many public areas in the district, including parks, hospitals, and administrative service centers, are equipped with free Wi-Fi. The high internet speed and extensive coverage have greatly benefited the community.

For example, the Pingshan District Government Service Center has installed 68 Wi-Fi access points, providing a download speed of 100MB/s. This capability enables citizens to quickly access relevant documents and submit applications online, greatly improving efficiency and enhancing the overall service experience.

In key public locations in Pingshan, residents can easily scan a code to access the government service platform for inquiries, suggestions, or complaints about the public Wi-Fi service. This feature, introduced based on feedback from public surveys, offers a convenient communication channel to address issues promptly, with designated personnel assigned to handle complaints.

Looking ahead, Pingshan District is committed to further improving public services and plans to enhance convenience and efficiency as part of its smart city development goals.
