Since the announcement of the competition in September and the opening of registration, many universities responded enthusiastically, including South China Normal University, Guangdong University of Science and Technology, Guangdong Technology College, Zhuhai College of Science and Technology, Huizhou University, Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology and Wuhan Polytechnic, among others. A total of 72 teams registered, with 24 outstanding making it to the finals.
In his speech at the award ceremony, Wang Hui, president of the SZIIT, said that industrial software is the soul of modern manufacturing and a crucial component for a strong industrial nation. He said that there is an urgent need for collaboration between the industry and academia to cultivate a talent ecosystem for industrial software.
This competition, being the first of its kind in China focused on industrial software applications, holds significant importance as it marks the beginning of skills competitions in this field. The SZIIT plans to host a series of activities aimed at building a talent ecosystem for industrial software by leveraging the national industrial software industry education integration community and vocational education groups, thereby contributing to the reform of education and training for domestic industrial software talents, according to Wang.
Founded in April 2002 after the merger of three schools, the SZIIT is a national demonstration higher vocational institution, national demonstration software vocational institution and pilot school of the “Sino-German Automotive Vocational Education Project” launched by China’s Ministry of Education.
