My journey in Shenzhen began in September 2023, marking a remarkable and memorable chapter in my life. This vibrant city, which is just over 40 years old, has captivated me not only as my first destination in China but also as a unique blend of cultural heritage and technological advancement.

At first glance, one might assume that a young city like Shenzhen lacks a rich cultural spirit. However, my experiences have completely dispelled this notion. Immersing myself in student life, I discovered that Shenzhen offers a wealth of cultural activities that enrich daily life. Participating in a Chinese cultural poem recitation competition and a public speaking contest were transformative experiences for me. I never imagined I could recite Chinese poems in front of an audience or speak publicly in a foreign language about complex cultural topics. These events unveiled hidden talents and ignited a passion for public speaking and recitation that I am eager to pursue further.

Cultural celebrations in Shenzhen, such as the Spring Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival, are observed with the same fervor as they have been for thousands of years. This commitment to tradition amidst modernity positions Shenzhen as a global example of how to preserve a nation’s culture and history while embracing the advancements of contemporary life.

The technological landscape of Shenzhen is equally impressive. When I first visited Nanshan District, I was reminded of New York City, with its towering skyscrapers and the headquarters of some of the world’s leading tech companies. The prevalence of electric cars, easily identified by their distinctive green license plates, highlights Shenzhen's commitment to environmental sustainability alongside its technological prowess.

As a master degree student at Harbin Institute of Technology, specializing in low carbon and green economics, I have developed a keen interest in sustainable development and city branding. I am continually amazed by the innovations that define daily life in Shenzhen. One standout feature is the drone delivery service available in the university town, where orders can be placed and delivered to designated collection points by drones. Witnessing such cutting-edge technology in action, while simultaneously engaging with the rich cultural heritage of one of the oldest civilizations on Earth, creates a unique blend of experiences that I cherish.

Based on my experience, I have developed a keen interest in sustainable development and city branding. One aspect that truly captivates me is the unique atmosphere created in Shenzhen, where the harmony between greenery and modern architecture is striking.
