Zhao Shumin, director of the Jiayuguan Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau, detailed the city’s rich historical and cultural resources, as well as its unique natural scenery. She emphasized the preferential tourism policies available this winter and next spring.
Jiayuguan derives its name from the Jiayu Pass, recognized as the western starting point of the Ming Great Wall. The pass is an impressive structure with layers above layers and soaring eaves, creating a towering and grand castle. On either side of the pass, the solid Great Wall winds through the mountains, featuring numerous platforms that together form a robust military defense system. The Jiayu Pass complex consists of the inner city, the court city, the outer city, towers, and annexes, making it easy to defend and difficult to attack.
As the largest and most well-preserved military defense structure among the Great Wall relics, Jiayu Pass has been designated as one of China’s most important preserved cultural relic units and is recognized as a cultural heritage site of global significance.
During the conference, local travel agents signed cooperation agreements with the tourism association and hotels in Jiayuguan, aimed at strengthening bilateral tourism collaboration.
