'Realm of the Snow and Ice'

The MixC Qianhai (万象前海) shopping mall has unveiled an outdoor ice-themed attraction called “Realm of the Snow and Ice,” inviting residents to experience artificial snow for a romantic winter ambiance. The ice world, spanning nearly 1,300 square meters, runs until Feb. 16 next year and is accessible to the public free of charge.

‘Notre Dame de Paris’

This weekend, the French musical “Notre Dame de Paris,” one of this year’s most anticipated Festival Croisements events celebrating the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between China and France, will enchant musical fans at the Pingshan Theater. The show will be performed in French with Chinese subtitles.

UK National Symphony Orchestra

Under the baton of Paul Bateman, principal conductor of the U.K.’s National Symphony Orchestra (NSO), the orchestra will perform a new year’s concert that features traditional Vienna dance tunes, opera arias, and Dvořák’s fan-favorite “Symphony No. 9, Op. 95,” also known as “From the New World.” Soprano Annette Wardell will be the featured soloist.

SZ Symphony Orchestra

The Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra (SZSO) and the SZSO chorus will present a New Year’s concert this Sunday, featuring a selection of works by Verdi and Puccini.

Chopin’s Mazurkas

Pianist Zhao Yangmingtian will present an enchanting concert featuring Mazurkas by Chopin. Originating as a form of folk dance in Poland, Chopin’s hometown, the Mazurka had a special place in the composer’s early musical memories. He later composed a suite of Mazurkas to express his deep emotions for his homeland.

‘Footmark Under the Moonlight’

Artist Chen Mutian is displaying her works inspired by the history and culture of her hometown, Changsha in Hunan Province, at OCT LOFT. This exhibition is themed around William Somerset Maugham’s novel “The Moon and Sixpence.”

Student paintings

A total of 120 paintings created by local primary school students are on display at the “Learning Painting from Masters” exhibition at the Century Place shopping mall in Huaqiangbei, Futian District. Since its inception in 2017, the exhibition has invited students to paint after studying and drawing inspiration from masterpieces displayed at the Guan Shanyue Art Museum.
