Shangri-La Nanshan, Shenzhen, welcomed Yuan Manjun, the fifth-generation successor of Yuan’s Paper-cutting, an integral cultural heritage item, to conduct a manual paper-cutting activity at the hotel’s Café 66 all-day dining restaurant last Sunday. This event aimed to provide a glimpse into Lingnan folk culture.
The occasion coincided with the Winter Solstice, a significant solar term symbolizing new beginnings and the birth of hope within the natural rhythm.
With her exceptional skills and unwavering passion for paper-cutting art, Master Yuan has crafted numerous vibrant and spiritual paper-cutting pieces. Guided by her patience and meticulous instructions, participants at Sunday’s event took hold of scissors to embark on their paper-cutting journey. Progressing from basic patterns to mastering cutting techniques, they produced personalized and interesting works. Through this process, they not only enjoyed the art of paper-cutting but also gained a profound understanding of this intangible cultural heritage.
