PrintGBA Eyewear+ wearable alliance established at optics fair

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Eyewear+ Smart Wearable Industry Alliance was inaugurated at the 2024 Shenzhen International Optics Fair in Futian District this morning, marking a significant step forward in the integrated development of the optical industry in the Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Initiated by enterprises in the eyewear and smart wearable devices sector, optical research institutes and the industry associations in the GBA, the alliance aims at bolstering collaborative development in the eyewear and smart wearable industry through resource integration, technological innovation, and market expansion.
The alliance plans to engage in in-depth cooperation in areas such as technological innovation, standard formulation, and talent cultivation, to drive the high-quality development within the eyewear and smart wearable industry in the GBA.
Themed on “Light Vision,” the anticipated 2024 optics fair raised its curtain at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, featuring more than 200 exhibitors from eight countries and regions.
Jiang Bo, vice chairman of China Optometric And Optical Association, said in her keynote speech at the opening ceremony that China’s eyewear market has experienced a surge in diversified demand from 2018 to 2023. Official statistics showed that the retail revenue of the eyewear industry surpassed 34.81 billion yuan (US$4.77 billion) in 2023, and is expected to continue growing significantly over the next five years.
Hosted jointly by China Optometric And Optical Association, Shenzhen Municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau and Longgang District Government, and organized by Shenzhen Optical Industry Association and other institutions, the three-day fair is expected to attract over 20,000 professional buyers.
