Street cleaning in Shijing to go fully AI-powered

Shijing Subdistrict in Pingshan District is set to enhance its street cleaning operations by deploying additional artificial intelligence (AI) equipment by the end of 2025 as part of a comprehensive plan aimed at addressing all areas, times, and scenarios in street cleaning.

Shijing is the first subdistrict in Shenzhen to fully implement AI-driven street cleaning.

At the project‘s launch ceremony held Jan. 8, six types of sweeping and watering robots demonstrated their street cleaning capabilities by automatically identifying cleaning routes and traffic lights along Chuangjing Road.

Currently, 29 AI devices capable of operating in various scenarios are in use across the subdistrict. These machines efficiently clean main roads, sidewalks, park squares, and alleys, covering 71% of the public areas that require maintenance. By the end of 2025, the number of such machines operating in the subdistrict will increase to more than 60, according to the official plan.

Utilizing intelligent connected cloud platforms and advanced AI models, all vehicles, personnel, and infrastructure are monitored in real time for prompt deployment and meticulous urban management.

During the ceremony, companies such as Cowa Robot, Auto City, Saite Intelligence, Shenzhen Godo Innovative Technology, Ant Ranger, and Zingjing Intelligent Acoustics Technology, as well as the College of Big Data and Internet at Shenzhen Technology University, showcased their innovative products. 

Representatives from the university, enterprises, industrial parks, and property management companies signed cooperation agreements.

Pingshan District has designated Julong Mountain Ecological Park, Kengzi Subdistrict, and Shijing Subdistrict as three demonstration zones for AI street cleaning. The district has established two operational centers and eight intelligent supply stations, and deployed 59 AI street cleaning devices. Looking ahead, Pingshan plans to expand the number of AI street cleaning units to 200 across the district by the end of 2026 and further integrate AI into urban management.
