In 2024, Pingshan District unveiled 12 community gardens co-built by the government, enterprises, schools, residents, and social organizations. These gardens, located in schools, along streets, and in residential areas, not only improve the environment but also foster community ties and enhance residents’ well-being.

Several gardens built in schools provide spaces for relaxation, enjoyment, and nature education. For example, a garden at Tongxin Foreign Languages School in Kengzi Subdistrict incorporates recycled materials to create amusement facilities, raising awareness about environmental protection.

Children enjoy playing with repurposed tires, which add vibrancy and joy to the space. Additionally, students have built a drinking station for insects, participated in botany classes, and cultivated flowers and grass in designated areas.

Other gardens are equally distinctive. In Jingui Village, located in Shijing Subdistrict, a garden teeming with butterfly-themed decorations and display boards showcases the beauty and vibrancy of butterflies. This garden not only highlights Jingui Village’s natural ecology and biodiversity but also serves as a habitat for various insects and birds.

Another noteworthy garden, situated in a residential area in Maluan Subdistrict, is named the 119 Garden, after China’s fire emergency number. This fire-fighting-themed garden features interactive installations, raising awareness about fire safety while also providing a space for relaxation and enjoyment.
