Chinese New Year observed in Antarctica

As part of China’s 41st Antarctic research expedition, the icebreaker is currently in the middle of a month-long exploration in the Amundsen Sea, with team members collecting data and conducting oceanic research. The explorers have adorned the ship with festive decorations ahead of the Chinese New Year on Jan. 29.
