Writer: | Editor: Zhang Zhiqing | From: Shenzhen Daily | Updated: 2025-02-04
According to ancient Chinese mythology, the goddess Nüwa created the world in seven days. She created animals during the first six days and created humans on the seventh day using yellow clay. This myth ties the seventh day of the Lunar New Year to the collective birthday of all people, which is why this day is known as ”rén rì” (人日), meaning “human’s day”.

A common tradition on this day is eating soup made with seven vegetables, though the specific types of vegetables used vary by region.
