Oilfield begins production

China National Offshore Oil Corp. has commenced production at the Bozhong 26-6 oilfield development project (Phase I), the world’s largest metamorphic buried hill oilfield, marking a major milestone in offshore energy development and carbon capture initiatives, the company announced Friday.

Located in central Bohai Bay with an average water depth of about 20 meters, the project boasts cumulative proven oil and gas reserves exceeding 200 million cubic meters. It is expected to reach peak production of approximately 22,300 barrels of oil equivalent per day by the end of 2025.
