For many people, Pingshan District is synonymous with BYD, a world leading new energy vehicle maker. But today’s Pingshan has more to offer, especially for cultural enthusiasts, making it a perfect weekend getaway from the urban hustle and bustle.
The Pingshan Culture Center is a must-see for first-time visitors. The center is a cluster of various cultural facilities, which exhibit a consistent architectural style when viewed from a distance. Each building has its own distinct features upon a closer look.

One hightlight is the digital Pompeii exhibition, designed and organized by Gedeon Programmes and the Réunion des musées nationaux (RMN) – Grand Palais, in collaboration with the Archaeological Park of Pompeii on the first day of the gallery. This immersive experience transports visitors into the heart of the archaeological site of Pompeii, featuring an array of large-format image projections and 3-D reconstructions to provide a spectacular and impressive showcase of Pompeii. The prosperous ancient Mediterranean city was frozen in time in 79A.D. when Mount Vesuvius erupted, wiping out its population. Ever since the discovery of its buried ruins, this ancient city under Roman rule has captured the public imagination, as its buried ruins were hidden from view for centuries.
The VR experience allows users, equipped with a flashlight, to explore the ruins and search for objects that furnished the House of the Pompeii Garden, aiming to reconstruct it in its original state before the catastrophic eruption.
