Chinese characters in contemporary art

Writer: Lin Songtao  |  Editor: Lin Qiuying  |  From: Original  |  Updated: 2025-02-18

“Journey from the Wilderness,” a special contemporary calligraphy art exhibition, is currently being showcased at the Shenzhen Art Museum (new venue) and will run until March 11.

The exhibition features Chinese characters — symbols of Chinese civilization and carriers of cultural heritage — reimagined through paintings, installations, sculptures, and videos by four talented Chinese artists.

Each artist brings their unique artistic style to the show, highlighting the artistic charm and cultural depth of Chinese characters while breathing new life into them within the context of contemporary art.
