Falling luggage leads to death of newborn

A railway passenger who was pregnant lost her child after a piece of falling luggage struck her in the belly on a moving train from Guangdong’s Foshan to Guangxi’s Chongzuo last month.

The woman surnamed Zhang said she disembarked in Nanning after the accident, where she underwent an emergency C-section in hospital, but still lost her premature newborn a few days later. Railway authorities said they were investigating the accident. The victim said she has identified the owner of the luggage and is ready to pursue legal action for compensation.
