From trade to fitness: My journey in China

Writer: Nemanja Bozovic  |  Editor: Lin Qiuying  |  From: Original  |  Updated: 2025-03-08

I began my life in China seven years ago, initially working in trade across Shandong Province, Beijing, and Tianjin.

Eventually, I moved to Shenzhen just before the pandemic — a city I specifically chose to learn Mandarin because Shenzhen Polytechnic University offered courses designed for foreigners.

This desire to master the language was a key reason for settling here, especially since Guangdong is a hub for the clothing industry.

My passion for fitness dates back to 2007 when I started competing in bodybuilding competitions. Over the years, I’ve earned several awards both in Europe and China and now serve as a judge in multiple competitions.

In partnership with a Chinese collaborator in 2023, we launched a private fitness studio in Shenzhen, focusing exclusively on one-on-one training sessions.

Our clientele includes professional athletes preparing for competitions and fitness enthusiasts seeking personalized coaching. We’re fortunate to attract both local Chinese clients and expats alike.
