

Guangming signs cooperation memorandum with Downer

Guangming District signed a cooperation memorandum with Downer EDI Rail Pty Ltd., a prominent player in Australia's rail transit industry, on March 14.
This agreement represents a significant milestone in the district’s efforts to attract foreign investment and is expected to inject fresh momentum into the collaborative development of high-end manufacturing between China and Australia.
Downer Group, with a history of 165 years, is a leading integrated service provider in Australia and New Zealand. The company delivers comprehensive services across various sectors, including infrastructure, mining, energy, telecommunications, and railways.
It has successfully managed numerous renowned rail transit projects in Australia, including Sydney's double-decker trains, Sydney Millennium trains, and the Melbourne Metro. Additionally, Downer Group has established strong partnerships with Chinese rail vehicle manufacturers, such as CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicle Co., playing a crucial role in assisting these manufacturers with expanding their markets internationally.
In recent years, Guangming District has set its sights on becoming a “world-class science hub in northern Shenzhen.” By concentrating on the "3+3+1" key industrial clusters, the district has created a robust business environment that fosters growth and development. This strategy has resulted in a significant increase in foreign investment, attracting numerous industry-leading companies such as TÜV Rheinland and Siemens.
A representative from Downer Group expressed the company’s eagerness to enhance its commercial investments in China, facilitate procurement activities, and deepen collaboration with Chinese enterprises on rail transit projects in Australia and New Zealand. The signing of this memorandum with Guangming District marks the beginning of a new chapter in international cooperation in the rail transit sector.
