My journey with Shenzhen and CUHK-Shenzhen

I' m Hugh Thomas, and since joining The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) in 2015, I have witnessed remarkable development — not only in the university but also in the vibrant city of Shenzhen. The growth of both has been intertwined, with each fostering the other' s progress in inspiring ways.

When I first started here as an associate professor at the School of Management and Economics, I was excited but a bit surprised by how quickly things were evolving. Back when I began, we struggled to find enough qualified people to teach foundational courses like corporate finance. Today, CUHK-Shenzhen boasts an outstanding finance faculty that truly reflects its academic ambitions.
