In a significant advancement for scientific collaboration, Guangming District has recently launched the Scientific Instrument Sharing Map of Guangming Science City.

This initiative aims to enhance the accessibility of key scientific instruments and foster greater innovation within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Guangming District is recognized as a vital hub for major scientific and technological innovation. Over recent years, the district has been actively constructing and operating important scientific innovation platforms. Efforts have been focused on the open sharing of significant scientific facilities, as well as the optimal configuration and efficient utilization of large research instruments. This framework supports research innovation and collaboration among various entities.

The Guangming District Science and Technology Innovation Bureau, in cooperation with relevant organizations, has rolled out the sharing map, marking the first time such comprehensive data has been made available. This map includes information about instruments shared by seven research institutions and two research-oriented universities, aimed at facilitating easier access for research entities.

Currently, Guangming Science City has integrated 26 research entities, including prominent institutions such as the Major Technological Infrastructure for Synthetic Biology Research, Major Technological Infrastructure for Brain Analysis and Simulation, Shenzhen Bay Laboratory, Sun Yat-sen University Shenzhen Campus, Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology, and the Seventh Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. Together, these institutions contribute to Shenzhen’s major technological infrastructure and large scientific instrument sharing platform.

The initiative has made more than 1,000 high-value scientific instruments available for public use. Among these instruments are advanced tools like frozen plasma focused ion beam scanning electron microscopes, high-throughput screening systems, and ultra-high resolution liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry systems.

Looking ahead, Guangming District is committed to enhancing its open sharing system for scientific facilities and instruments. The goal is to optimize resource allocation, standardize operational management, and provide efficient shared services. These efforts are anticipated to significantly improve the utilization and sharing of scientific and technological resources, thereby supporting industrial technological innovations through improved access to research facilities and instruments.
