Discovering a passion for Chinese language and culture

My interest in Chinese began somewhat unexpectedly through practicing Wing Chun, a kung fu style popularized by Bruce Lee.

My “shifu,” or mentor, often used Chinese terms during training, which sparked my curiosity about the language.

This curiosity deepened when I studied Chinese at the University of Sheffield and participated in an exchange program at Nanjing University. These experiences inspired me to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Chinese language and literature at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2009, laying a strong foundation for my future career.
