While I was already convinced of keto’s benefits for weight loss and metabolic health, my belief in its healing power deepened when my girlfriend’s daughter was diagnosed with systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (SJIA), an autoimmune disease.

At first, the doctor said she could eat anything since they didn’t know what was causing the condition, but I knew that autoimmune diseases are linked to chronic inflammation, and I was certain that processed food would only make it worse.

Under the guidance of a doctor specializing in ketogenic (keto) nutrition, they put the girl on a strict keto diet. Within three weeks, the girl’s inflammatory markers dropped significantly — so much so that she was able to leave the hospital.

Seeing firsthand how food could mitigate serious medical conditions, I realized that keto wasn’t just a personal choice — it was something that could help others, too.

At home, I was already cooking keto-friendly meals for my family. We had already seen how keto transformed our lives, so when my girlfriend and I launched LWLUP in Shekou, Nanshan District, in 2024, it made perfect sense to bring that same philosophy to the community. To encourage people to stay longer at LWLUP, we started making snacks, then drinks, and eventually turned the place into a fully licensed kitchen.

From there, the business expanded rapidly. LWLUP now serves fresh, keto-friendly meals for event attendees, international school teachers, and customers across China. Many people struggle to find keto ingredients or plan meals, so we vacuum-seal, freeze, and deliver meals to customers in Sichuan and other provinces.
