

SZ invites global young talents

The Shenzhen Kunpeng Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative extended an invitation to young talents worldwide by offering up to 1 million yuan (US$136,800) R&D grants to the eligible projects.
At the same time, participants can enjoy comprehensive benefits, including talent incentives, office space and science and technology financial services, according to an official from Shenzhen science and technology innovation bureau who briefed attendees on the city's policies during the Guangdong Spring Job Fair held at the Hall D of Pavilion 4.2 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) yesterday.

Zhang Lin, director of the Shenzhen Municipal Science, Technology and Innovation Bureau, elaborated on the details of the initiative, saying Shenzhen will invest over 100 million yuan annually to support more than 1,000 reward-based projects and over 100 R&D-funded projects.
Zhang also shared the growth of three local companies XtalPi, Insta360 and DOBOT to show Shenzhen's vibrant ecosystem.
At the Xuhui Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in the afternoon, the Shenzhen Municipal Science, Technology and Innovation Bureau signed cooperation agreements with representatives from more than 30 renowned national innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, universities, and venture capital institutions, and launched the "Kunpeng Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Partnership Program."

In his speech, Zhao Xin, deputy secretary of the CPC Committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, expressed hopes for deeper city-university collaboration to build broader platforms for youth innovation and entrepreneurship, and to nurture more outstanding innovative talents.
Zhang illustrated Shenzhen's sci-tech innovation ecosystem: the city's R&D investment grew by 18.9% in 2024, marking double-digit growth for nine straight years. The number of national high-tech enterprises surpassed 25,000. He also introduced the support measures, application process and funding mechanisms of the "Shenzhen Kunpeng Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative," encouraging young students to choose Shenzhen, settle in Shenzhen, and realize their dreams in Shenzhen.
Chen Ning, chairman and CEO of Shenzhen Intellifusion Technologies Co., Ltd., inspired the youth with his own experiences, urging them to dive into the wave of innovation and entrepreneurship and transform technology into industrial achievements in Shenzhen — a land full of opportunities.
