Enjoying life in Shenzhen and looking ahead

The Universiade spurred major infrastructure improvements, including the delightful coastline from Futian to Shekou and the ecological Dasha River Corridor near my home, where my wife and I often enjoy walks.

Shenzhen’s fast-paced development continues to impress me, and the communal attitude of “no problem, only solutions” explains much of its success.

As for my personal life, despite my long flights between Shenzhen and Europe (shown by my collection of model airplanes), time apart from my daughter in London was hard, especially during the pandemic. Thankfully, we plan to visit her four times a year now.

While I once dreamed of becoming a pilot, nearsightedness prevented that path. Instead, I’ve flown countless miles on planes between Shenzhen and Europe, charting a fulfilling career and life in this vibrant city.
