

City to stage 100 events to mark World Book Day 2025

To mark the 30th World Book Day and the 10th Shenzhen Juvenile Reading Day, the Shenzhen Publishing Group will launch over 100 events from Saturday to May 5, featuring new book releases, technology-driven interactions, sales exhibitions, and reading initiatives across the city.

Under the theme "Reading Illuminates the Light of Science,"the celebrations aim to blend literature with innovation, reflecting Shenzhen’s identity as a hub of technology and culture.
Major bookstores in Longgang, Bao’an, and Longhua will host immersive activities, including a VR exhibition on digital reading technologies and an AI Creative Journey that explores the future of reading through artificial intelligence.
The event will bring together renowned scholars and writers such as Zheng Yongnian, Gu Shi, Han Song, Ma Guobin, Peng Chao, Cheng Ran, and Ai Tao, who will participate in themed book exhibitions and AI-powered interactive sessions.

From April 19 to May 5, six major bookstores in Shenzhen will collaborate with over 180 publishers to offer discounts of up to 80% on more than 100,000 selected books, making it an ideal opportunity for book lovers to expand their collections.
A highlight of this year’s celebration is the "2025 Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Study Tour Program." On April 19, 40 students from four schools in Shenzhen and Hong Kong will visit iconic Hong Kong landmarks, including Victoria Harbour, Avenue of Stars, Commercial Press Tsim Sha Tsui Book Centre, Hong Kong Space Museum, and the Hong Kong Palace Museum.
