Building community connections and bridging science with business

My background in biomedical engineering has been invaluable in my role, providing me with the insight needed to understand and support the diverse scientific projects within Guangming Science City.

Although my current work centers on business development, communication, and internationalization, I draw heavily on my scientific training to bridge the gap between laboratory research and commercial success.

When I first started, aspects like government communication and cooperation were new challenges. Over time, I've developed these skills and have grown to appreciate how critical they are in facilitating progress.

Beyond my formal duties, I actively organize English-language events aimed at bringing together locals and expats. These gatherings foster networking, cultural exchange, and community bonding.

I distinctly remember being asked by the district’s foreign affairs bureau to lend my voice to a promotional video for Guangming — a memorable experience that strengthened my connection to this community.

Serving as a Shenzhen Global Communication Ambassador has also enriched my experience.

Attending events like the cruise trip to see the Shenzhong Link — a monumental infrastructure project connecting two cities — was awe-inspiring. These opportunities have allowed me to forge many friendships and further my mission to create platforms where foreigners can get to know one another and explore different cultures together.

Working closely with the Guangming foreign affairs bureau, I now host regular social events that help bridge foreigners and locals alike. I am happy to say my efforts have not only expanded my social circle but also enhanced the sense of community here. My WeChat contacts are now filled with friends from many backgrounds, which has been an incredibly rewarding outcome.
