

Hangzhou showcases tourism in Shenzhen

A cultural tourism promotion conference highlighting the diverse and abundant shows that Hangzhou offers was held in Nanshan District last Friday. As the first show-themed tourism promotion event, it provides an opportunity for Hangzhou to collaborate with Shenzhen and open a new chapter in cultural tourism cooperation.
The conference vividly showcased Hangzhou’s latest tourism products and innovative business formats through various forms, including promotional videos, intangible cultural heritage displays, themed promotions, and travel experts’ presentations.

Lou Yejie, director of the Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, TV, and Tourism, introduced Hangzhou’s rich cultural scene, which includes nine tourism shows, numerous professional theaters, and new venues for performances.
“Last year, the number of large-scale concerts and music festivals held in Hangzhou, along with visitor numbers and box office revenue, increased by more than 400% year-on-year. It is expected that Hangzhou will host over 85 concerts this year, establishing itself as one of the top cities in China’s performing arts economy,” Lou said. She also extended a warm invitation to Shenzhen residents to visit Hangzhou and experience the unique charm of this “capital of performing arts.”

During the event, Hangzhou also announced a series of incentive policies to support the performing arts industry, as well as preferential ticketing policies for tourists from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Enterprises or institutions that bring large-scale concerts and music festivals to Hangzhou can receive an annual reward of up to one million yuan (US$136,986). Meanwhile, Guangdong residents traveling to Hangzhou this year can enjoy discounts on tickets for 12 shows, including “Impression West Lake· Enduring Memories of Hangzhou,” “Elegance of Xianghu,” and performances by Mahua Fun Age.
The event also witnessed the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between tourism companies from Hangzhou and Shenzhen. In the future, the two cities will further strengthen in-depth, multi-field exchanges and cooperation to jointly promote the integration of culture and tourism.
