Finding my niche: UX writing at AfterShip

Currently, I work as the user experience (UX) writing manager at AfterShip in Qianhai. UX writing is about crafting the text that helps users navigate digital products smoothly and intuitively — ideally, users shouldn’t even notice the writing because it guides them effortlessly.
Though relatively new, UX writing is increasingly important, especially in Shenzhen’s booming tech scene. With many hardware companies and a growing software presence, the need for clear, thoughtful user communication keeps rising.
AfterShip supports e-commerce companies worldwide with a platform handling logistics tracking, returns, multi-carrier shipping, and more.
Shenzhen’s vast cross-border e-commerce sector — home to over 150,000 export enterprises — makes this an exciting place to be.
To support aspiring UX writers, I authored an e-book, UX Writing for Beginners: The Complete Guide to UX Writing: Templates, Tips & Tactics, which compiles the knowledge I wished I’d had starting out. The book has topped several Amazon Kindle bestseller lists, and I also share insights through my YouTube channel.
