VMA to host international music festival

In collaboration with seven world-leading music institutions, including the Johns Hopkins Peabody Institute, New England Conservatory, and Berklee College of Music, Vanke Meisha Academy (VMA) will host the VMA International Music Festival, featuring the Global Arts Bridge Program, which opens May 27.

The Global Arts Bridge Program features a diverse range of activities, including one-on-one masterclasses with globally renowned musicians, a themed concert, and a performing arts college admission lecture. Hosted by Vanke Meisha Arts Academy (VMAA), the event is designed to provide students passionate about performing arts with an innovative platform to engage directly with acclaimed artists from world-class music institutes, and serve as a pathway to realize their dreams.


Face-to-face with Renowned Masters

The Face-to-Face with Renowned Masters series will invite eight distinguished artists to mentor students from May to September. Each expert will guide six students (three from VMAA and three from outside) to participate in a 45-minute intensive masterclass. After the sessions, students will receive expert evaluation letters from mentors to support their artistic development. Outstanding students may be invited to participate in the VMAA concert.

All masterclasses are open for public free of charge. Participation in the sessions requires prior selection.

How to apply:

1. Record two pieces of different musical eras and upload the videos to Bilibili.com or Tencent Video by May 18. Submitted videos must be recorded after Dec. 1, 2024.

2. Submission emails: meisha.international@vma.edu.cn or vmaa.admin@vma.edu.cn

Email subject: Applicant name+Masterclass application

The email must include the applicant’s name and contact information, the titles of the performed pieces, and video links.

Spots are limited and will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.


Global Arts Bridge Honor Students Concert

On May 31, a concert jointly presented by faculty and students from three prestigious music institutions will be staged at the Sky Concert Hall in Nanshan District.

Four distinguished masters and 12 outstanding students from Johns Hopkins University Peabody Institute, New England Conservatory and Vanke Meisha Arts Academy will perform. Among them is Jiang Miduo from Vanke Meisha Arts Academy, who has received nine offers from top music schools this year and will soon enroll at Johns Hopkins University Peabody Institute.

Performing arts college admission lecture

At the “Decoding Arts Admission” lecture, Lilia Wu, executive director of VMA International Music Festival, will join Dr. Tang Songyuan, an expert in arts education, for an in-depth discussion on application strategies, evaluation criteria and case analyses. Both Wu and Tang have extensive experience in arts education in the U.K. and the U.S., and have guided students in securing scholarships for top universities including Yale and The Juilliard School.
