For many Chinese and foreign exhibitors, the China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) is a vital hub for cultural exchange and cooperation.
The Frankfurt Book Fair returns to ICIF with a rich selection of literary works.
This year, the prestigious Frankfurter Buchmesse (Frankfurt Book Fair) returns to ICIF, building on the success of its inaugural participation in 2024. This move underscores the book fair’s dedication to fostering cultural dialogue and promoting German literature within the burgeoning Chinese market.
Xu Zhiyong, marketing director of Derui Business Consulting GmbH, which curates the book fair’s exhibition at ICIF, emphasized the significance of ICIF as a platform for international cultural exchange.
“The fair’s vibrant atmosphere and the presence of a large and diverse audience make it an ideal venue for showcasing German publications and fostering collaboration with Chinese publishers and readers,” Xu told Shenzhen Daily.

This year, the Frankfurt Book Fair delegation has brought a rich selection of 125 books to ICIF. The collection features a diverse range of genres, including children’s literature, young adult fiction, and award-winning architecture books.
According to Xu, the focus on children’s books stems from their significant market share in China. Data from OpenBook, a Chinese institution that provides consulting and research services in the book industry, show that children’s books account for approximately 28% of China's paper book publishing industry.
“We believe that ICIF provides a valuable opportunity to connect with Chinese readers and promote German literature,” Xu said. “The strong interest in children’s books and architecture in China makes this an ideal platform to showcase our publications and explore potential partnerships.”

The Frankfurt Book Fair’s return to ICIF signifies the strengthening collaboration between these two cultural powerhouses. In 2023, the general manager of ICIF’s organizer visited the Frankfurt Book Fair, and in return, the Frankfurt Book Fair’s chairman Juergen Boos visited ICIF’s organizer in April this year.
“Building on the already strong communication between these two cultural platforms, Derui Business Consulting is excited to once again represent the Frankfurt Book Fair at ICIF next year,” Xu said.
