On May 21, an extraordinary artificial intelligence (AI) learning experience took place at Tencent Binhai Building in Shenzhen. Approximately 60 international students from the Z10 Club, along with Shenzhen Global Communication Ambassadors, gathered at Tencent to explore the fascinating capabilities of Tencent’s Hunyuan AI large model.

The Hunyuan AI large model is self-developed by Tencent, capable of understanding and generating various modalities of content, including text, images, videos, and 3D models. During this workshop, students gained an in-depth understanding and firsthand experience of Tencent Hunyuan 3D — an AI 3D creation platform that allows users to quickly and efficiently convert sketches to 3D models, simplify complex design processes, and even create animate characters.

Participants learn about Tencent's development history and its product ecosystem in the company's exhibition hall.

The event began with a tour of the Tencent exhibition hall, where the students gained deep insights into Tencent’s development history and its extensive product ecosystem. The diverse range of Tencent’s products and its cutting-edge technologies applied in fields such as transportation, finance, culture, agriculture, and public welfare captivated the international students, making them fully understand Tencent’s mission of “Value for Users, Tech for Good” and how this tech giant is innovating to change the world.

The highlight of the event was the Tencent Hunyuan AI large model classroom session. A senior AI technology expert from Tencent delivered an engaging and accessible lecture detailing the evolution of Tencent’s AI models, 3D content generation, and cutting-edge multi-modal interactions. The atmosphere was lively, with students actively asking questions and engaging in discussions. During the hands-on workshop session, participants quickly got started with 3D applications, exploring diverse possibilities of AIGC, and created their unique AI-generated works, which they enthusiastically presented on stage.

Fedor Kurilo, a Russian student, shared: “We previously had a class at school about scanning objects with a 3D scanner. The process was complicated and time-consuming. It took over an hour, and the scanned model lacked color and required high computer performance. Today in the Tencent class, I uploaded just one photo of the same object, and the Tencent Hunyuan AI model generated a high-quality 3D model within two minutes. The results even surpassed those from the expensive 3D scanner we used at school. I believe this is the future—for many commercial applications and also for regular users like us.”

Shin Moon-sub, a South Korean student and Shenzhen Global Communication Ambassador, said: “This was my first time experiencing Tencent’s Hunyuan AI model. Creating a 3D character was really fun and easy. We only needed to upload a photo, and the system automatically generated the 3D model. The whole process was very fast. In the future, I look forward to creating more amazing works using this platform. Maybe you’ll see some really interesting pieces on my social media.”

Russian student Milana Mitrofanova also shared her experience: “Today, I made a model of Caishen, the Chinese God of Wealth. Caishen holds ‘Yuanbao,’ which is also the name of Tencent’s AI model. I didn’t know that before, and I felt very excited to learn it. I think Tencent’s AI technology is very powerful and will help us enhance our skills and be a helpful part of our daily lives and work.”

According to a senior representative from Tencent, AI is a significant driving force behind the next generation of technological waves and a key focus for Chinese digital technology companies expanding overseas. Through this event, Tencent hopes to enable creative young Generation Z students from around the world to gain a deeper understanding of China’s digital technology development and to enhance their enthusiasm for exploring AI.
