A series of activities were recently held to celebrate the 32nd anniversary of Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU), showcasing achievements in innovation and entrepreneurship education.
On the first day of the event, 14 alumni, engaged in high-tech sectors such as the health industry, intelligent manufacturing, and information technology, were inducted into the university’s “Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame.”
Chen Wenkai, director of the college’s Student Entrepreneurship Park, said that each of their enterprises boasts annual revenues exceeding 50 million yuan (US$6.94 million). Moreover, these enterprises have either been conferred State-level high-tech firm titles or included in Shenzhen’s list of specialized and innovative enterprises.
At the innovation exhibition, a Turkish alumnus known only as Nemo showcased GlassOuse smart glasses and GlassOuse finger rehab trainer, attracting great interest from faculty members and students.
Another alumnus, Liu Kai’en, and his team developed an AI-powered college application consultation system that leverages big data analysis and intelligent algorithms to offer guidance for students. The 13 projects featured at the exhibition have secured 23 patents, with a market value exceeding 200 million yuan, underscoring the robust innovation ecosystem forged through close integration of research and industry.
The exhibition also featured a special “Alumni Mentor Workshop,” where the 14 entrepreneurs of the Hall of Fame would provide one month of guidance and support to student startups. This initiative aims to leverage alumni resources to boost entrepreneurship and innovation.
He Li, deputy secretary of the university’s Party committee, said alumni are the school’s most precious resources. “We look forward to their insights enriching our teaching and helping advance our academic programs in the AI era,” said He.
