On the evening of June 7, the Alumni Association of the Department of Media and Communication at City University of Hong Kong organized a Greater Bay Area Alumni Reunion Dinner in Shenzhen. Nearly 70 alumni from Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, and surrounding regions gathered to reconnect and reminisce about their university days. Prof. Shen Fei, Prof. He Joe, Prof. Crystal Jiang Li, and Prof. Liu Xiaofan were invited to attend the event as honored guests.
Zhu Jiang Tac, the president of the Alumni Association, delivered the welcome speech on behalf of the executive board. He remarked that since its establishment in 2022, the association has upheld the vision of "promoting alumni well-being and promoting alumni advancement." By organizing a variety of thematic events, the association has continuously strengthened emotional bonds among alumni and with their alma mater, gradually building a distinctive brand that reflects the unique character of the Department of Media and Communication.
“We are delighted to witness more and more outstanding alumni actively participating in our activities. With everyone supporting one another and growing together, the Alumni Association sincerely thanks all alumni for their enthusiastic support and strong contributions,” Zhu said.
During the keynote segment, Prof. Shen shared the latest developments of the department. He noted that in recent years, the department’s international rankings have steadily improved, its industry influence has continued to grow, and both enrollment scale and student quality have reached new heights. “These remarkable achievements have earned wide recognition from society at large. The department is proud to have such an exceptional group of alumni,” he said.
As a founding faculty member of the department, Prof. He fondly recalled the early days of the department and shared anecdotes from early cohorts of master's students during global study tours. These precious memories resonated deeply with the alumni in attendance.
Throughout the evening, more than ten outstanding alumni from different graduating classes and professional sectors shared their academic journeys, career insights, and perspectives on industry trends. Attendees expressed heartfelt gratitude and warm wishes to Prof. He and other faculty members.
The event, the largest and most far-reaching alumni dinner since the association’s founding, also received generous donations from several senior alumni. The donors expressed hope that their contributions would help the association offer more meaningful networking opportunities, strengthen alumni influence across various fields, and better support the broader alumni community.
