While much of the news about China over the past decade has focused on high-speed rail projects, an often-overlooked market is the bicycle and e-bike industry, which has taken every Chinese city by storm. Shenzhen, a densely populated city of millions, faces its own set of challenges in providing efficient and convenient commuting options for everyone.
For many residents of Shenzhen, bicycles and e-bikes are the most reliable forms of transportation. And for those who don’t own a bike, renting one is both simple and accessible.
In my ongoing series, I dedicate time to photographing cyclists and e-bike riders in the heart of Shenzhen. I document the creative ways locals navigate this sprawling city. The transportation choices people make often shape the evolution of public infrastructure. For photographers like me, capturing this transformation is part of the excitement!
