City's most iconic skyscraper — 'Spring Bamboo' building

In Nanshan, there is a building that is hard to miss, no matter where you are in the district. Some refer to it as the building that resembles a bullet, while others call it the "Spring Bamboo" building. The China Resources Tower is one of the most iconic skyscrapers in Shenzhen, and it's also one of the most photogenic.

Completed in 2018, the tower houses offices for many of China’s major corporations and stands proudly in Houhai, Shenzhen’s designated financial hub. What makes this building culturally significant is its design, which takes inspiration from the Chinese spring bamboo shoot, a symbol of vitality and growth.

As a photographer in Shenzhen, I often return to this modern marvel, as it can be photographed from various locations throughout the district. I’ve had the privilege of capturing the building several times over the years and am always grateful for the opportunity to photograph it once more.
