Guangdong women's ice hockey team is off to a strong start

The National Women's Ice Hockey Championship kicked off at the Shenzhen Kunlun Red Star Ice Hockey Club on Monday. In their debut game, the Guangdong provincial team defeated the Hebei team 3–1, receiving their first win. 

A total of seven teams including Beijing Municipal Team, Beijing Ice Association Team, Guangdong Provincial Team, Sichuan Provincial Team and Hebei Provincial Team participated in the tournament.

This is the Guangdong team's first time attending the National Women's Ice Hockey Championship. The team members who are from the Shenzhen Kunlun Red Star Ice Hockey Club, won the 2024–2025 season championship in the Chinese Women's Professional Ice Hockey League earlier in June. Shenzhen made history in Chinese sports as the first city in South China to host a top-level international ice hockey tournament.
