The eye-catching Shenzhen Women and Children's Center

Last weekend, I visited the Shenzhen Women and Children’s Center, a repurposed tower that now hosts a variety of service facilities for women and children in the community. The building, completed in 1994, was renovated in 2023 with a fresh coat of paint, inviting multi-purpose usage.

This building is certainly eye-catching, located in Futian District, right outside Jingtian Metro Station. The colorful facades of the base and tower breathe life into the structure, allowing it to stand out among others in the vicinity. The atrium at the center of the building’s base was open for roaming and featured temporary playground activities for children. Personally, experiencing the building gave me a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere as I took photos.

Shenzhen’s Women and Children’s Center is proof that the city does not shy away from revitalizing older buildings to better serve local communities. This approach not only reduces environmental costs but also represents a natural transformation in line with Shenzhen’s core values.
