Instant tax refund site launched for intl. tourists

Bao'an District has designated Uniwalk Qianhai as its first instant tax refund site for overseas visitors, marking a significant step in Shenzhen’s push to become an international consumption hub and enhance institutional openness.

This innovative measure offers a faster and more convenient tax refund experience for international visitors.

Aligned with national policies, Bao’an has swiftly launched the instant tax refund service, with 66 merchants — spanning international brands, fashion, electronics, and more — now designated as tax-refund stores.

After making purchases, eligible tourists can sign an agreement and complete a credit card pre-authorization to receive their value-added tax refund on the spot, eliminating the need for checkpoint processing. The streamlined process reduces refund time to just minutes, significantly improving convenience.

The move aims to enhance the global appeal of Shenzhen-made products, attract international consumption, and bolster the city’s vision of becoming a premier shopping destination.
