Shenzhen's traffic police authority has issued a new public notice strengthening the management of illegal parking, which takes effect yesterday.

The move is to enhance road traffic management and ensure safety, smoothness, and orderly flow on city roads.

The regulations cover a total of 1,559 road segments under strict illegal parking control. Among them, 1,086 segments will be subject to full-time strict regulation, and 473 segments will be under time-based strict regulation.

The traffic police will enforce strict parking restrictions around the clock on 312 heavily congested road segments and 774 other strictly managed roads, rigorously addressing any illegal parking.

Strict management periods apply daily from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., and from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on these 473 road segments. During these strict time frames, illegal parking will be monitored and penalized as stringently as on full-time strict control roads. Outside these hours, the enforcement will ease to align with non-strict management standards.

The strict control zones cover motor vehicle lanes, non-motor vehicle lanes, sidewalks, dedicated lanes, and auxiliary lanes along the designated roads.

Vehicles parked illegally or stopping temporarily on full-time or time-based strict roads during the restricted periods will face stringent control measures from traffic authorities.

The notice is valid through Dec. 31, 2025.

To tackle the city’s parking challenges, the Shenzhen Municipal Transportation Bureau has launched a public smart parking platform, which is fully integrated with all commercial parking lots citywide. Drivers can now access real-time parking space availability, peak-hour navigation guidance, and reservation services via the “Happy Futian” WeChat public account, enhancing convenience and easing parking congestion.
