Niúxiàng Fānshǔzhoū
From: IN SHENZHEN
Chinese name: 牛巷番薯粥
Similar to the plain Teochew porridge stalls, sweet potato porridge here is just a side character lending its name to the restaurant. Dozens of side dishes, from braised goose and pork trotters to blanched squid and even lobster, are available on display for you to choose.
There is no menu, and you can ask about the price when placing your order. The staff will bring your order to you. Be sure to find a seat before joining the queue. The place doesn't accept reservations, and is usually packed at dinnertime, even more so on the weekends.
The locale is also a congregation of various classic Teochew dishes, such as beef hotpot and fish head porridge. If you want to experience Teochew food as the Teochews would eat it (and at affordable prices), this is a good place to try.
