Greenwise Xplore Road Trip begins

Eight international vloggers from the U.K, India, Brazil, Russia, Egypt, Montenegro, Thailand, and Italy embarked on the Greenwise Xplore Road Trip yesterday morning to explore green technology in Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and Guangzhou.

Starting from BYD’s headquarters in Pingshan District, Shenzhen, they are driving BYD’s Denza N9 and Fang Cheng Bao Bao 8 new energy vehicles, equipped with the Lingyuan vehicle-mounted drone system, on this journey across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).International vloggers pose for a group photo before departing from BYD’s headquarters in Pingshan District yesterday morning. The vloggers, on a fleet of BYD’s Denza N9 and Fang Cheng Bao Bao 8 new energy vehicles, start their journey from BYD’s headquarters in Pingshan District yesterday morning.

Guided by the Information Office of the Shenzhen Municipal Government, the event was co-organized by EyeShenzhen of the Shenzhen News Group in collaboration with the Publicity Department of the CPC Pingshan District Committee and BYD Co. Ltd.

The road trip has received support from Shenzhen Energy Corporation, the China Southern Power Grid News Center, the Guangzhou Power Supply Bureau, the Zhuhai Wanshan Marine Development Experimental Zone Science and Technology Innovation and Commerce Bureau, Southern Offshore Wind Power Development Co. Ltd., Honor Device Co. Ltd., and Shenzhen Timekettle Technology Co. Ltd.

Prior to the journey, the vloggers explored BYD’s cutting-edge technology. One standout was the Lingyuan system, which is a vehicle-mounted drone capable of shooting and producing 4K video instantly.

“I am interested in using the drone from the vehicle. I’ve seen this technology before, but not yet had the opportunity to try it for myself. As someone who enjoys flying drones, this will be a great opportunity to test it firsthand,” said British vlogger Lee Barrett.

“The drone system sounds like a fun and futuristic bonus on this trip,” said Mahmoud Hamdy Mahmoud Ahmed, a Shenzhen Global Communication Ambassador from Egypt. 

“Imagine filming scenic or environmental landmarks from the air while driving! I absolutely can’t wait!” said Gloria D’Andrea, an Italian student at Shenzhen Polytechnic University.

The itinerary is designed to showcase southern China's green energy landscape. Participants will see how waste is converted into power at Shenzhen's Nanshan Ecological Park before witnessing clean energy production at the Guishan Offshore Wind Farm in Zhuhai. The tour will then explore the future of energy, from breakthroughs in hydrogen at a smart station in Guangzhou to the innovative green design of the city's "Power Box" science center — Lieqiao Substation.

These iconic green technology sites in the GBA showcase China’s ingenuity in achieving its dual carbon goals.

The participating vloggers are popular creators on various platforms such as Douyin, Bilibili, YouTube, and Instagram. They will share videos about the technologies and experiences across social media, showcasing innovations in new energy technology in the GBA — from research and development to production and application. They will offer global audiences unique insights into China’s pioneering achievements and sustainable development concepts.
