With cameras rolling and phones in hand, eight international vloggers are documenting their journey across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) as part of the Greenwise Xplore Road Trip — a multi-city tour spotlighting the region’s clean energy and technology innovations.

The trip began in Shenzhen on Wednesday and continues yesterday in Zhuhai, with Guangzhou next on the itinerary. Along the way, the vloggers —  hailing from the U.K, India, Brazil, Russia, Egypt, Montenegro, Thailand, and Italy — are sharing videos and posts with their audiences across platforms like YouTube and Instagram.

At the BYD headquarters, they explored the BYD's cutting-edge technologies in the test drive, tried the Lingyuan system which is mounted with drone capable of shooting and producing 4K videos.

In a test drive of the features of BYD models, Gloria D'Andrea, a student of Shenzhen Polytech and a vlogger from Italy, was amazed after trying all of the BYD latest global models.

“I can tell you I have never enjoyed being in a car for more than two hours this much,” said D'Andrea in her personal account.

Jeeranun Soontornpornjaroen from Thailand was excited to visit BYD's headquarters, since the company is well-known in Thailand and has started production there.

"The technology is fantastic, especially the car with the drone on top, which is truly unique and represents the latest technology," said Jeeranun Soontornpornjaroen.

Prior to the start of the journey, Lee Barrett, vlogger from U.K, standing in front of Yangwang U9 at the headquarters of BYD in Pingshan, showed his viewers the movement of the car body.

“Have you ever seen a car dance like this? ” Barrett asked.

Gloria D’Andrea was excited to get a close look at green energy, delving deep into two truly astonishing clean energy projects in the Greater Bay Area — the Nanshan Energy Ecological Park in Shenzhen on Wednesday afternoon.

“The concept of waste-to-energy is impressive,” said D’Andrea after visiting the Nanshan Energy Ecological Park. At the park, massive and modern waste treatment facilities are cleverly integrated into its landscape.

Shashidhar Shiraguppi of India (3rd L) and Brazilian influencer Cyntia Midori Yamauchi (2nd R) explore technology innovations at the Nanshan Energy Ecological Park in Shenzhen on Wednesday.

Brazilian influencer Cyntia Midori Yamauchi (also known as Cymye) added that the Nanshan Energy Ecological Park left a deep impression on her.

"Usually, we think of recycling things like plastics and paper – materials we can reuse. But they also burn materials that can't be recycled. The heat from burning is exchanged with water. The steam then generates energy for the buildings. They've also incorporated green spaces," said Yamauchi.

"I was very impressed because China is focusing heavily on maintaining technology while also protecting the environment."

While the Nanshan Energy Ecological Park manages urban waste sustainably, the Guishan Offshore Wind Farm in Zhuhai harnesses the immense power of the wind and sea.

Despite the rain yesterday morning, the eight vloggers continued their trip, boarding a boat to explore clean energy production at the Guishan wind farm.

“Due to the weather, we weren't able to take the boat to see the wind farm up close. But seeing those colossal wind turbines from afar was simply breathtaking,” D'Andrea said.

With a capacity of 200,000 kilowatts, it harnesses wind energy resources to provide over 493 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually.

This is equivalent to saving approximately 160,200 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 382,500 tons. The reduction in carbon dioxide effectively mitigates the harm of ocean acidification to shellfish and coral. Meanwhile, the offshore wind turbines function as artificial reefs, providing habitats for fish and promoting marine biodiversity.

The wind farm is also connected to the power grid of Zhuhai and its islands of Dong'ao, Guishan, and Greater Wanshan via submarine cables. This helps improve the reliability of power supply to the islands and reduce electricity costs.

The tour will then explore the future of energy, from breakthroughs in hydrogen at a smart station in Nansha, Guangzhou, and innovative green design of the city's "Power Box" science center — Lieqiao Substation today.
