Torrential rain swept across parts of Shenzhen this morning, prompting the city to issue its first red rainstorm warning of the year before the downpours began to subside around midday.
At 10:50 a.m., the Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory escalated a regional orange alert to red in the Longhua District, where subdistricts including Dalang, Longhua, and Minzhi saw rainfall totals surpass emergency thresholds. Forecasts at the time predicted continued 40-60 millimeters of rain in two hours.
Earlier in the morning, a yellow warning had already been upgraded to orange for several other districts — Nanshan, Futian, Bao’an, Guangming, and Longhua — after three hours of steady rainfall pushed totals beyond 50 millimeters.

By 12:30 p.m., however, the rainfall had eased across much of the city. Authorities urged residents to remain cautious as water levels in certain areas may take time to recede, and the risk of geological hazards persists due to saturated ground conditions.
