Over 3,000 chorus members and tutors from a dozen countries gathered in Nanshan District for the five-day “In Tune With the Times” international choral week, which concluded yesterday.

The event, featuring four concerts, a choral competition, master classes, seminars, and flash performances at local landmarks, not only fostered exchanges among singers and provided opportunities to learn from masters but also planted seeds of friendship and enriched the local arts scene.

The opening concert showcased 10 choirs from both home and abroad and premiered the specially commissioned song “Us” for this occasion.

A total of 45 ensembles, including five from overseas, participated in the choral competition across various age groups and genres such as ballads, pop, and art songs.

Tutors like composer and arranger Concetta Anastasi from the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory of Florence, and Benjamin Geier, professor at the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University Bloomington, offered valuable guidance to chorus members during master classes.

Five overseas ensembles performed flash concerts at local landmarks including Nantou City and a lighthouse in Shekou, drawing enthusiastic applause from passersby.

The event was co-organized by Nanshan’s cultural and sports authorities and Beijing Poly Theater Management Co., Ltd. Here we offer a glimpse into this colorful event.
