As a key project supported continuously by the Ministry of Education since it was launched in 2019, the Greater Bay Area (GBA) innovation and entrepreneurship training camp has attracted more than 600 outstanding students from the region over the past four years.
This program not only serves as a vital platform fostering friendship and collaboration among young talents from Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Macao but also offers an invaluable opportunity for participants to showcase their talents and challenge themselves.
With its remarkable achievements and wide-reaching impact, the training camp has earned high praise and has been officially recognized as an exemplary faculty and student exchange program between the mainland and Hong Kong-Macao higher education institutions. It has established itself as a benchmark model for collaborative talent cultivation within the Greater Bay Area.
The camp’s primary goal is to provide a high-level exchange platform that encourages deep mutual learning and integration among educators and students in Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Macao in areas such as scientific literacy, entrepreneurial skills, and innovative thinking.
The training camp featured a rich array of activities, including a keynote lecture by Wang Haiquan, former vice general manager at new energy vehicle giant BYD Co.
Wang’s presentation showcased BYD’s remarkable evolution from a battery contractor to a global pioneer in new energy vehicle. He offered insightful analysis of innovation pathways in intelligent manufacturing, the fundamental logic behind technology iteration, and the strategic national importance of the new energy sector.
Following the lecture, participants engaged in immersive field visits to Huawei’s International ICT Talent Exchange Center, the Industrial Software Industry-Education Integration Innovation Center, and the Industrial Robotics Open Training Base. These visits provided firsthand exposure to cutting-edge developments in 5G-enabled industrial internet, domestically developed industrial software, and intelligent robotics system integration. The hands-on experience offered invaluable industry insights and practical guidance, sparking enthusiastic discussions.
The training camp innovatively integrated two special sessions to allow participants to enhance their teamwork, decision-making judgment, innovative thinking, and entrepreneurial practice skills through role-playing and simulated practical exercises in an intense and exciting environment, achieving an organic integration of theory and practice.
