

Guangming hosts event to boost global engagement

Guangming District hosted a special event at Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology on July 30 to boost its internationalization efforts.
The event brought together representatives from government agencies, research institutions, firms, community groups, and volunteers to deepen dialogues on enhancing international competence.

In her opening remarks, Cao Saixian, director general of the Shenzhen Foreign Affairs Office, described Shenzhen as a "two-way window" exemplifying China’s reform and opening-up.
“On one hand, we actively showcase China to the world. On the other, we invite the world to witness our progress,” she said, emphasizing Shenzhen's unique role in global exchange. She praised Guangming for its comprehensive approach, mobilizing diverse stakeholders and consolidating resources to build a modern international district.

He outlined key diplomatic principles such as balance, reciprocity, and adherence to global norms. His presentation covered a range of topics, including official reception protocols, organizing international events, conference preparation, seating arrangements, ceremonial procedures, and etiquette for foreign-related banquets.
Qin Kai, an officer from the Exit-Entry Administration Division of the Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau, updated attendees on exit-entry policies and services tailored for international talent. Responding to enterprise inquiries regarding port visa (visa-on-arrival) procedures, Qin said that only four ports in Shenzhen—Huanggang, Luohu, Shekou Cruise Center, and Bao’an Airport — currently offer these services. He introduced a “proxy application” model that allows key enterprises and research institutions to submit documents in advance, significantly reducing processing time to just 30–40 minutes.

As a key hub within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's national science center initiative, Guangming has increasingly become a magnet for Fortune 500 companies and major foreign firms.
Thanks to its favorable policies, robust industrial infrastructure, and strong research capabilities, Guangming has seen steady growth in foreign investment. By the end of February 2025, the district was home to over 1,500 foreign-funded companies. In 2024 alone, 38 new foreign-invested firms were established, contributing nearly 25% of the district's total import and export volume.
The event highlighted Guangming’s continued commitment to creating a world-class environment for international businesses and talent, laying a solid foundation for deeper global integration.
