KK100
From: IN SHENZHEN
Chinese name: 京基100大厦 Jīngjī 100 Dàshà
Rising 442 meters above Luohu District, KK100 was the tallest building in the world when it was completed in 2011.
At time of research, it was only Shenzhen’s second-tallest, a slender yet imposing spear of blue glass, curving distinctively towards the top. The architects, TFP Farrells, say that it alludes to a spring or fountain representing Shenzhen’s wealth. The ultraluxe St. Regis Hotel occupies the top 25 floors, and there’s a shopping mall with an IMAX cinema below ground level.
