Dapeng Fortress, whose construction began in 1394, covers an area of approximately 100,000 square meters. This pivotal coastal defense stronghold has been associated with many renowned historical figures, including Lai Enjue and Liu Qilong, high-ranking generals of the Qing Dynasty, as well as Liu Heizai, a legendary guerrilla fighter during the War of Resistance against Japan. The fortress is also the reason why Shenzhen is often referred to as the "City of Peng (Roc City)."
