Members of the Nanshan District Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) have made a significant contribution to the preservation of China’s cultural heritage, donating 80,000 yuan (US$11,172) to the China Dunhuang Grottoes Conservation Research Foundation.
Ma Zilin, Wei Tingfeng, Liu Xita, Xu Xiaoying, Zhang Wenli, Zhang Tong, Chen Yongfeng, Lin Shangguan, and Yao Caihong participated in the public welfare donation activity, which was held Aug. 25. Zheng Chongyang, chairman of the Nanshan District Committee of the CPPCC, attended the event.
This generous contribution follows the successful “Dunhuang Splendors Culture and Art Exhibition of the Mogao Grottoes,” which has been drawing large crowds at the Nanshan Museum since its opening July 26. The largest and most comprehensive display of Dunhuang culture and art in southern China to date, the exhibition features precious cultural relics from the Mogao Grottoes, many of which are being exhibited for the first time in museums worldwide.
The exhibition’s popularity has been overwhelming, with tickets consistently in high demand. Inspired by the public’s enthusiastic response and their own commitment to cultural preservation, the district's CPPCC members voluntarily organized the donation to support ongoing protection and research of the Dunhuang Grottoes.
