Mass participation chess and card events for the National Games will be held in Luohu

Four mass events at the upcoming 15th National Games — Go, Chinese chess, international chess, and bridge —will take place at the Shenzhen Chess Academy in Luohu District, it was announced at a press conference Friday.

From September to November, more than 1,200 top athletes from across the country will compete for 24 gold medals. 

The newly renovated Shenzhen Chess Academy, along with the multifunctional competition center and Yinhu Conference Center, features first-class competition facilities and intelligent management systems. The integrated ecological sports space provides accommodation, dining, competition, and training within a garden-style, immersive environment, allowing athletes to experience a blend of nature and smart technology amid the intensity of competition.

During the preparation phase, Luohu District focused on developing the Yinhu Intellectual Sports Valley, centered around the chess academy. The valley spans approximately 166,000 square meters and integrates competitive, training, and leisure functions.

The venue also includes an interactive “human-machine match” exhibition zone, where guests were invited to play opening moves alongside AI robots.

Zhan Hui, deputy head of Luohu District, said the district is committed to developing top-tier competition venues and delivering a professionally organized, engaging, and memorable intellectual sports event.

Luohu, recognized as China’s “Hometown of Go,” has nurtured over 300,000 Go and chess enthusiasts.
